In 2023, musician anaiis and director Jenny Brough embarked on a journey across Senegal to shoot a music video for anaiis’ single, “OPENHEARTED.” The resulting short film is a captivating love letter to Senegal: the mesmerizing dunes of Lompoul; the tranquil Peul villages near Saint Louis; the vibrant streets of Dakar; the serene lagoons of Somone. Jareh Das explores the way the two artists managed to paint such an authentic picture of the place and how, in the process, anaiis reconnected with Senegal and her roots.
